GENERAL INFORMATION
Sitges is located 36 kilometres south of Barcelona and has an extention of 43.67 square kms. its population is actually above 25,000 habitants.
Situaed in the region of Garraf, it is a sea shore town with great beaches and an excellent tourist infrastructure .
The main communication ways from Barcelona are the C – 32 fare way, the regional highway C – 31 (also known as the highway of the coasts of Garraf), the free-way A -7 and the Railway service of RENFE with trains from and to Barcelona and the International Airport of El Prat with an approximate frequency of every half hour.
The economy of of Sitges is basically tourist and industrial . In this aspect the offer is very variable with the importance of the construction materials like cement from the factory of Vallcarca or the stone from Garrafone of the first.. Tourism is concentrated in the City of Sitges which has a great capacity and excellent installations, having of course three sports ports.
The villa of Stiges has become a commercial centre of great tourism affluence during the year which has promoted the building of many houses and chalets used to function as second homes or as station occupation to enjoy more than 300 days of sunshine a year.
